On Saturday, August 26, Black Hippy Farms, Hooligan Brand and friends were proud to ring in the dog days of summer with the latest edition of “The Invitational” basketball tournament. The purpose of this yearly tradition is to bring the community together for at least one more final hurrah before the summer ends with one of our favorite sports. While tensions may rise in the heat of sports competitions, there was nothing but love and respect in the atmosphere as members of our community came together to have a good time.
While players entertained the crowd with competitive matches, musical vibes were provided by the three-headed monster of Thelonious Martin, Mars, and DJ Skoli. Among the wonderful vendors present was mix of new and old friends. Up-Elevated Cocktails came back this year to spread the joy that comes from infused paletas and spirits, while On Pho Nem was there to take care of everybody’s munchies with their fully loaded elotes. The real breakout star from last Saturday though was our new friends over at A Good Plug who came through all the way from Wisconsin to provide some of the best edibles around.
Overall, this year’s “Invitational” was another success. Thank you to everyone who pulled up even if it was just for a moment. This tournament is less about who the best squad is and more about celebrating our community as we could not have even had this event without them.
